Alaea salt, also known as Hawaiian red salt, is an unrefined sea salt from Hawaii. It is mixed with an iron oxide-rich volcanic clay called ʻalaea, which gives it its characteristic brick red color. Used in traditional Hawaiian cuisine, it is a key ingredient in dishes such as kalua pig, poke, and pipikaula (Hawaiian jerky).
