No Ka Wai O Ka Puna Hou – The Water of Ka Puna Hou (Bilingual Version)

When an elderly couple’s daily toil for water during a drought fills them with despair, a mysterious dream reveals an unexpected source of water. With hard work and faith, the life-giving water gives way to hope to many in O‘ahu’s Manoa Valley. This ancient Hawaiian legend has endured and when a school was built near the site of Pu‘uomanoa at the entrance to Manoa Valley, it was given the name “Punahou”, or the new spring.

No Ka Wai O Ka Puna Hou is the fourth book in a series published collaboratively by Hale Kuamo‘o and Kamehameha Schools, and is available in both bilingual and Hawaiian-only versions.

The Hale Kuamo‘o – Hawaiian Language Center supports and encourages the expansion of Hawaiian language as the medium of education, business, government and in other contexts of life in Hawai‘i. The center provides professional and material resources necessary to address this goal including educational support in the development of curriculum materials for Hawaiian medium education, teacher training, Na Maka O Kana Hawaiian language newspaper, and the Mamaka Kaiao dictionary of contemporary Hawaiian terms.
